How to use the Digital Dropbox
Locating the Digital Dropbox
- Log in to Blackboard and enter your course.
- Click on the Tools button.
- Click on the link labled Digital Dropbox.

Viewing a file in your Digital Dropbox
Occasionally an instructor will use the Dropbox to send files to you. To view a file, click on the underlined name of the file. Your browser will either automatically open the file or ask you what to do with it.
Adding a file to the Digital Dropbox
- Click the Add File button.
- Enter a name for your file. Your instructor may have requirements for how they want the file named. If not, it is good practice to include your name in the file's name. This name should also be different than any other name in your Dropbox.
- Click the Browse button and select your file from your computer or floppy drive.
- If desired, add comments for the instructor receiving the file. Comments are not required.
- Click the Submit button to upload the selected file.
- A box will pop up that states, "This file will be added but not sent. In order to send the file, please use the Send File button. Send File can be used to simultaneously Add and Send a file." Click OK.
- Click OK again to return to the Digital Dropbox.
- Your file has not yet been sent to the instructor. Continue to the next section for instructions on sending a file.
IMPORTANT! The filename for your document should not contain any special characters or spaces. Please try to only use letters, numbers, _ or - when you save your file.
NOTE: Adding files with filenames identical to files already in the Dropbox will not replace the existing files. To remove a file from your Dropbox, see the instructions below.
Sending a file to your instructor
- Click on the Send File button.
- Using the dropdown list, choose the file you would like to send.
- If you have not yet added your file to the list, you can use this page with the instructions above to add your file.
- Click Submit.
- Click OK to return to the Digital Dropbox.
IMPORTANT! It is recommended that you print a copy of your Digital Dropbox that shows the Submitted date and time of your file (see below). In case something happens to your file, this will show the date and time that you submitted it.
Removing a file from your Dropbox
NOTE: You can only remove a file from your Dropbox before you send it to the instructor or after the instructor removes it from their Dropbox. You can not remove a file from your Dropbox while it is in the instructor's possession.
- Click the Remove button next to the file you would like to remove.
- A pop-up box will appear that says, "This action is final and cannot be undone. Remove this item?" Click OK to remove the item or Cancel to cancel.
- Click OK to return to your Dropbox.
