Human Resources : Reductions in Staff/Layoff
Reduction in Staff for Faculty (Teaching & Administrative)
The purpose of the Reduction in Staff for Faculty policy is to provide a uniform procedure for adjusting or reconfiguring the size of the college full-time staff holding faculty rank. The decision to implement a reduction in staff must not be made on the basis of an employee’s race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, disability, or political affiliation.
The complete Reduction in Staff for Faculty policy can be accessed in the VCCS POLICY MANUAL, Section 3.11.2 at http://www.vccs.edu/Portals/0/ContentAreas/PolicyManual/Sct3.pdf.

Restricted and Classified Employees
The purpose of the Layoff Policy for restricted and classified employees permits agencies to implement reductions in the workforce according to uniform criteria when it becomes necessary to reduce the number of employees or to reconfigure the work force including change of positions from full-time to part-time status. The decision to implement layoff must not be made on the basis of an employee’s race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, disability, or political affiliation.
The Layoff Policy in its entirety can be found at the Department of Human Resource Management website at http://www.dhrm.virginia.gov/hrpolicy/web/pol1_30.html.

Wage (1500 hour) Employees
