About Removing Items

If you use the BB drop box a fair amount it can get full and in Blackboard 5.5.x it's a major pain to delete the items. Here's a bookmarklet that makes life a little easier. It does a couple of things:
  1. Opens a new window with a listing of files - this is in reverse order and there's a limit of about 30
  2. You check off those you wish to delete and click the button. What happens next is that a script cycles through those you've checked and calls the page that deletes them, with a 10 second delay between each.
The 10-second delay might seem a little excessive, but if a server is unresponsive it is necessary. More to the point, this can run unattended.

Here's the bookmarklet (Blackboard 5.5 versions, should work with IE and Netscape - newly tested with IE 6 and now works - the problem was the length of the code in the link, so I've abbreviated it):

Remove Items From DropBox

As with the other Assessment Helper Scripts, just drag the Remove Items from Dropbox link to somewhere in your favorites/bookmarks/links. Then, when you're at the Dropbox page, select it. The rest should be obvious.
